In the area of Majorna in Gothenburg, a new residential area is taking place where the old Fixfabrikens-factory was located. The project is a collaboration between HSB Göteborg and Fastighets AB Balder. The 500 new apartments that has been built has a strong focus on sustainability, where it should be easy to live everyday life without a car. Theft-proof bicycle-parkings, service rooms for bicycles and access to car sharing is some of the things that are included. As an extra bonus, all residents get free travel coupons for Västtrafik.
- As a natural step in all our new productions we have a sustainable mindset and ambition for the project. This comes down to everything from materials to ways of communicating. It feels like a really good choice to offer the option to rent a car nearby to our customers, which gives a positive effect on the environment and enables an efficient alternative to their transportation habits without having to own a car, says Lars Carlsson, Property developer, Fastighets AB Balder and Christer Thomassen, Project manager, HSB Göteborg.
The apartments in the first phase are ready to move in to, and from the 12th of January all residents of Fixfabriken and everyone in the area nearby are given the opportunity to rent a car - by the hour, day or week - fully emission free. Besides the car sharing location at Fixfabriken, they get access to Sweden’s largest network of shared cars in the Move About mobile app.
- Fixfabriken is a great example of progressive thinking within sustainable living with several smart solutions. With electric car sharing right outside your doorstep you can fast and easily book an electric car right in the palm of your hands, and make your transportation emission free. Furthermore, all residents are given access to Move About’s sustainable network so that they can book a car as easy when they are in another location, says Peter Aldby, Country Manager at Move About Sweden.
